Would you like to do some flag waving?  Join Janet for a fun and fast Square in a Square class to create one great American flag quilt.  This piece is the perfect place to use up your mountains of scraps but only if they are red, white and blue because this quilt was definitely born on the Fourth of July.  It’s a great gift for someone who is now or was in the military or keep for yourself and show your patriotism

Snails Trail

Saturday, August 30 from 12—4 pm

 

Have you wanted to try your hand at making a Snail’s Trail quilt?  Try making it using a Square in a Square ruler.  First, you’ll make four patches and then learn some of the basic Square in a Square options.  The sample is made in a two fabric choice but students who are up to a bit of a challenge, it can be made with a four color variation.

Choosing, Using and Adapting Quilting Designs

Friday, September 5 from 9 am to 4 pm

Plan for a day of fun and discovery making your own quilting designs.  Determine effective quilting designs for any quilt, learn how a single design can be manipulated to fill the quilt top perfectly coordinating squares, triangles, and multi-sized border designs and what to stitch first, last and why.  Using simple tools and skills from the art world, Joanie demonstrates how you can adapt images for quilting, create continuous line designs and a variety of marking procedures.  After this class, you will never again be at a loss when your pattern suggests, “quilt as desired.”  No sewing machine needed.  We’ll be drawing and designing all day long!

My Sentimental Journey (Lecture and Trunk Show)

Friday, September 5 from 7 pm to 9 pm

The art of Heirloom Machine Quilting has enabled Joanie to stitch intricate designs on the quilt surface through refined free-motion techniques.  The quilts Joanie makes are deeply rooted in tradition and honor relationships in her life.  These inspiring, award-winning quilts display original images in applique, thread illustration, and intricate quilting.   Travel with Joanie on a journey through the process of the construction process, answering, “How did you do that?” and “Where do I start?”  Joanie will also share a trunk show of her award-winning quilts.

Heirloom Machine Quilting—Ivy Wreath

Focus on refined free motion techniques using the basic elements of Heirloom Machine Quilting: curvilinear motifs, grids, and stippling.  Class includes information on supplies, machine set-up, marking, basting, navigating the design, plus time to begin stitching on Joanie’s original design for a 16” Ivy Wreath Wall Quilt or Table Mat.  Previous machine quilting experience is required

(the PSQ Machine Quilting class by Elvira Illig will meet this pre-requisite.)

This Christmas quilt is perfect for your holiday decorating. The quilt features elegant birds and stunning stars that go together to create a beautiful holiday throw or wall hanging.  You may purchase the kit and put it together yourself OR enjoy the social aspect of a class and learn some great tips and techniques along the way!

This fabric shopping bag will help you join the Green Team!  Stop collecting all those plastic shopping bags and make your own carry-all bags.  These are very sturdy bags that are washable and can be used again and again.  Make several and take them with you whenever and wherever you shop!

Accidental Landscapes

Saturday, July 26 from 10 am to 4 pm

 

These little gems are a wonderful, easy way to play with fabric.  You can create a landscape scene of the beach, the mountains or other favorite scenes from your memory.  We will topstitch the layers in place and then add details with found objects or applique.  Come join the fun!
