The Basics Sundays, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, 8/17, 8/24 from 1 to 4 pm
Learn the basic techniques of quilting that will give each student a solid foundation to use as a spring board to more complicated projects. Students will make a sampler quilt of 16 different blocks while learning numerous techniques and building a wealth of quilting knowledge. Students who take this class will have learned the skills to tackle just about any quilting technique. The Basics is an excellent opportunity to start at the beginning no matter how long you’ve been quilting. Class Fee: $120 Instructor: Barbara Rippel Level: Beginner

Machine Quilting Thursday, August 21 from 10 am to 4 pm
Learn how fun, easy and versatile machine quilting can be. Award-winning quilter, Elvira Illig, will teach students hands-on machine quilting techniques including stippling, meandering, background quilting, “in-the-ditch” AND McTavishing (featured on the gorgeous Quilting the Garden piece which hangs behind the Long Arm in our shop.) Binding Sunday, September 28 from noon to 3 pm The quilting is done, now how do you finish the edges? Join Connie Pomering as she guides students through the basic techniques of applying quilting binding using either straight grain or bias strips. Learn the easy way to create continuous bias binding and how to successfully miter your corners. You will also explore a crisp tailored strip tucked in under the binding. Applique Every Which Way Sunday, September 21 from 12 pm to 3 pm If you have always wanted to learn hand applique, then why not learn all the techniques in one class. Once you’ve learned it all, then you decide what works best for you. This class will cover the following techniques: over paper, needle turn, needle marking, freezer paper method, pressed over template and an interfacing method will be taught. “Pick Your Project” Quilt Pals Thursday, July 31 from 6 to 8 pm OR Thursday, August 28 from 6 to 8 pm OR Thursday, September 18 from 6 to 8 pm Have you learned the basics of quilting and want to get started on the next project? This class is designed to allow you to “Pick Your Project”, sew at your own pace, learn with guidance and build relationships with others who share a passion for quilting. This is also a great class to drop in for a time or two if you are stuck on a project, need help with a pattern, or want to try something new but don’t want to tackle it alone. UFO’s—Unfinished Objects Fridays, July 18 and September 19 from 6 pm to 11 pm Be afraid, be very afraid. Are they lurking in the closet of your sewing room? Are they sneaking out from under your bed? “They” are all of the UnFinished Objects or UFOs that we all seem to have, and they are multiplying. Do those nasty gift giving deadlines make you sweat? Pre-registration is required (space is limited) and it’s FREE. Just bring a snack to share and enjoy 5 hours of uninterrupted sewing time (you may come and go as you please) with your fellow quilters and end the spread of UFO’s in your home! Square in a Square for Beginners Thursday, August 7 from 6 to 9 pm
This is a quick quilt to put together and a great way to learn the basic sewing and cutting for Option 1 using the Square in a Square technique. Janet will share with students the basic formula for cutting strips for each row using Square in a Square and, if time permits, experiment with a few other options.

Stamp-Cut-Sew Fun and Easy! Saturday, August 9 from 1 to 4 pm
If you’ve ever wanted to try hand piecing then your wait is over! Learn how to make beautiful, traditional pieces by hand with an easy method that features stamping, cutting and sewing. Once you’ve learned how to hand piece you’ll never be bored. Take these great projects to doctor’s appointments, ball games, anywhere you have a few spare minutes. Students will learn how to piece utilizing hexagons, diamonds and triangles.

The quick, easy to make quilt goes together in no time and looks terrific scrappy, in novelties, Asian or pick a fabric line and go nuts!
